What We Believe.

The Authority of Scripture

The authority of Scripture is central to Baptist belief, guiding faith and practice. Baptists affirm the Bible's divine inspiration, inerrancy, and infallibility as God's revelation. It shapes theology, ethics, worship, and Gospel proclamation, with a strong focus on expository preaching and spiritual growth through biblical truths.

The Trinity

The doctrine of the Trinity is central to Baptist theology, affirming one God in three persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. This belief shapes Baptists' understanding of God's nature, redemption, and worship, guiding their faith and mission. It models unity and community, defining Baptist identity and their relationship with God.

Salvation by Grace through Faith

Salvation by grace through faith is a core Baptist belief, affirming that it is a divine gift received through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptists emphasize that salvation is not earned but comes through trust in Christ’s atoning sacrifice and resurrection. This doctrine underscores the necessity of personal conversion, leading to a life of faith and discipleship. It shapes Baptist identity, drives evangelism, and fosters gratitude for God's unmerited grace and love.

Baptism by Immersion

Baptism by immersion is central to Baptist theology, symbolizing the believer's identification with Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Rooted in the New Testament, it represents spiritual rebirth, where immersion signifies the burial of the old self and emerging from the water symbolizes new life in Christ. This public declaration of faith fosters communal celebration and incorporates the individual into the body of Christ, emphasizing the shared identity and commitment of believers.

The Return of Christ

The doctrine of the return of Christ, or Second Coming, is vital in Baptist tradition, shaping beliefs about God's purposes. It anticipates Christ's return to establish His eternal kingdom, offering hope and assurance to believers. This doctrine encourages ethical living and engagement in God's mission, reinforcing God's sovereignty and providing comfort in adversity. Ultimately, it fosters hope and purpose as Baptists await Christ's glorious return.

Autonomy of the Local Church

The autonomy of the local church is central to Baptist ecclesiology, highlighting the independence and self-governance of congregations. Each church makes its own decisions about governance and mission without external interference, reflecting the New Testament model. This principle fosters accountability, protects community integrity, and affirms the congregation as the highest authority while encouraging cooperation among churches for mutual support.
